Razer has been developing their new high powered gaming tablet for
some time after it first unveiled to the public it back in CES 2o012,
and ran a Facebook campaign back in October to see if demand was right
for a launch.
Now at CES 2013 this week Razer have launched their new gaming tablet as the Razer Edge, dropping the Project Fiona code name. The Razer Edge is powered by a choice of 3rd gen Intel Core processors supported by up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM.
Razer have equipped their Edge gaming tablet with a 10.1-inch 1,366 x
768 resolution display, and fitted it with a NVIDIA GT640M LE GPU for
handle graphics, together with USB 3.0 and a 64, 128 or 256GB SSD
depending on your requirements. Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, CEO and
creative director explains:
“When we decided to design a tablet from the ground up, we did it to create a phenomenal experience for mobile gamers. By combining the best of PC and console gaming with Windows 8, we’ve created a true gaming tablet,”-”Clearly, the critical acclaim and community support the Razer Edge has enjoyed suggests we hit the mark. Now, we get to celebrate the reality of what was formerly a dream with the audience for which this groundbreaking tablet was made.”
The Razer Edge will start at $999 for the base model with the 1.9GHz Core i7 Pro model priced at $1299. For a full hands on from the CES 2013 exhibition jump over to the Ars Technica website.
