Cable and satellite companies
are always raising rates on users. Even as their services become less
and less necessary. Now a new price adjustment by DirecTV is set to
raise its subscribers’ rates this February and it is a big mistake.
According to a recently released card by DirecTV, rates will be
increasing for the average customer by 4.5 percent on February 7, 2013.
The reason isn’t new technology that will
improve service, but the money
will instead go toward programming costs which have gone up by eight
percent. DirecTV still claims it has managed to keep its annual price
increases lower than cable on average.
Sure that percentage isn’t terrible, but today we have more ways than
ever to get the shows and movies we want. Many of us don’t want the
whole package. Just the ability to watch a few quality shows and leave
the garbage to others. I’m sure they will lose a lot of customers.
